January 8 (7 pm) Miguel Ildefonso at McNally Jackson. One of the most renowned poets of the New Peruvian style, Miguel Ildefonso (Los Desmoronamientos Sinfónicos, Hipocampo, 2008) will hold a presentation of his work and life to the general public. January 9 (3 pm - 5 pm) Teatro IATI's Tertulia 2010. Teatro IATI welcomes the new year with a collaboration between artists involved in the performing, visual and language arts. In the form of an open mic session, various artists will showcase their talents. January 10 (12 pm - 2 pm) Annecy Baez at the Acentos Writers Workshop. The acclaimed hands-on writing series organized by Acentos Foundation welcomes the author of Viajeros del Rocio: 25 Narradores Dominicanos de la Diaspora and Riverine: An Anthology of Hudson Valley Writers. January 10 (8:30 pm-10 pm) Bonafide Rojas at Culture Shock. Dedicated to showcasing diversity in the arts by promoting New York's established and upcoming performing artists and filmmakers, Culture Shock creates a space for a multi-arts community in the Lower East Side. This Sunday at Culture Shock, a poetry performance by Bonafide Rojas will be held alongside film and music performances by others artists. January 11 (8 pm) Erica Fabri at LouderArts Project Reading Series. Erica Miriam Fabri will read from her latest book Dialect of a Skirt for the LouderArts Project Reading Series at Bar 13. The reading will also feature music by special guest Robin Andre as well as a musical / poetry collaboration between Fabri and Andre. The event has a cover of $6. January 15 (7 pm) Domício Coutinho at McNally Jackson. Soho's bookstore welcomes Brazilian novelist and founder of the Brazilian Endowment for the Arts, Domício Coutinho (Duke, the Dog Priest, Green Integer, 2009) as he presents his latest work.
