Some Literary Events/ January 21-30

January 21 (6pm) "This Full Green Hour" at Cornelia Street Cafe. Come join Argentinian author and poet Guillermo Castro and the rest of the One O'Clock Poets as they recite their latest work. January 21, 22, 23 (7 pm) "In the Cypher" at Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Slam poetry and candid audience interactions to question whether truth and identity are more than skin deep. January 22 (7 - 8 pm) Ely Rosa Zamora at McNally Jackson Books. SoHo's bookstore presents the collaborative art project of Venezuelan poet Ely Rosa Zamora and artist Barbara Madsen, Detritivo Olvidado/Forgotten Detritus. January 24 (12 pm - 2 pm) Li-Yun Alvarado at the Acentos Writers Workshop. The acclaimed hands-on writing series organized by Acentos Foundation welcomes Li-Yun Alvarado, a Puerto Rican author, poet, and educator. RSVP is required by sending an email to fish@louderarts.com. January 25 (7:30 pm) LouderArt's "Fort Slam" at Bar 13. While it is not required that you read a formal poem to participate in the evening's slam, those poets who do so will receive an additional point added to their total score in each round. Acceptable forms include sonnet, pantoum, sestina, ghazal or villanelle. Sign-up list for open mic and slam go out at 7:00 pm. Get there early to sign up! At Bar 13, 35 E 13th Street, 2nd Floor.
